Need and Intervention:
It is part of the intervention package of USAID-supported TB LON Activity.
Under the USAID-funded Dopasi Foundation-led TB Local Organizations Network (TB LON), Contech International conducted an in-depth analysis of patient pathways across all 17 secondary and tertiary level hospitals in 6 intervention districts of Sindh, including Karachi East, Karachi Central, Keamari, Matiari, Badin, and Jamshoro.
The analysis combined both qualitative and quantitative methods, including on-site observations and collection of data from the facilities against a specified set of indicators. The hospital briefs cover aspects such as the availability of OPD/IPD services, diagnostic and treatment facilities, referral linkages, service delivery delays, patient losses, and staff training needs.
The findings aim to inform the rolling out of the hospital TB linkages strategy within the 17 facilities in 6 selected districts of Sindh for enhancing facility-based TB screening and diagnosis, ultimately leading to a reduction in pre-diagnosis and pre-treatment patient losses.
