The main goal of DG I&M was to institutionalize a monitoring mechanism to enhance oversight in healthcare services. Review of approaches to improve quality of FP, Maternal and Newborn Health services in Pakistan
Contech has been commissioned to review the various existing quality improvement (QI) approaches in the health field, to improve FP and MNH services. This research was based primarily on the six areas or dimensions of quality i.e. efficiency, effectiveness, safety, accessibility, acceptability and equity with emphasis on removing differences in receiving quality MNH care.

Punjab Millennium Development Goals Program (PMDGP)
The Punjab MDGs Program (PMDGP) was included in the 2008 country program to help the GoPb attain the MDGs. The Program's outcomes were improved access, quality and equity of health services. One of the biggest constraints in designing a viable health financing system was lack of capacity and knowledge. Consultants provided technical assistance in, 1. Preparation of the Punjab health expenditure review, 2. Training on health economics, 3. Prepared an estimation of financial requirement for the selected health financing system.

Integrated Health Systems Strengthening and Service Delivery Activity (IHSS-SD) at Federal, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The overarching support to KP, Sindh and Federal level was provided for integrated health systems strengthening to build resilient health systems based on innovations and experiential learning from USAID's MCH Program in Sindh. Contech was responsible for Health System Strengthening and worked as consortium partner of JSI. Service delivery support was implemented and demonstrated in three selected districts based on epidemiological ranking. Institutional review and strengthening of DGHS, Provincial Health Services Academy, Regional Training institutes, KP Health Care Commission, Health Sector Reform Unit, Planning Cell, Independent Monitoring Unit, Financial Management Cell, and Minister's Office. Contech International provided technical support to USAID's Integrated Health Systems Strengthening and Service Delivery (IHSS-SD) Activity, which focused on restructuring the Department of Health Sindh. The team conducted consultations and back-to-back meetings with key stakeholders and developed programs profiles and proposal matrices. This Activity is still in process. Furthermore, Contech International provided technical support to USAID's Integrated Health Systems Strengthening and Service Delivery (IHSS-SD) Activity, which focused on restructuring the Department of Health Sindh.

Pakistan Health System Strengthening Project (HSSP)
Contech International completed the USAID-HSS Project with Heartfile and RSPN, led by JSI, to improve the capacity of the Government of Sindh to develop and implement innovative, cost-effective, integrated, and quality programs and services to strengthen systems around RMNCH services. The primary focus of the project was to strengthen systems, enhance management capacities, develop innovative approaches to catalyze community outreach services, and fortify private sector delivery for both urban and rural poor populations in the province of Sindh, Pakistan. Contech International was mainly responsible to undertake the activities given under health system strengthening component.

Health Care delivery system Study & Development of Patient Referral System (NWFP and Balochistan)
Contech team reviewed health system and conducted base-line survey of health services including EPI program. Designed and developed a comprehensive Patient Referral System for the province of NWFP/KP, Pakistan. Contech International were assigned a study by Asian Development Bank funded Women Health Project for analysis of the performance of District Health Management Teams and for making recommendations to improve Governance of District Health System through District Health Management Team (DHMT).

Community Midwives Programme (CMP)
Contech conducted a feasibility study to create a countrywide strategy for positioning skilled birth attendants at the community level. The main objectives of the CMP were to provide safe and easily accessible reproductive health services, create a network of institutionally trained reproductive health workers, and provide micro-credit assistance for establishing village based safe delivery practices.

Capacity Development Needs Assessment with National Commission on Human Development
Contech International and the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) planned Capacity building need assessment workshops to improve critical indicators through system strengthening and human resource development. Executive District Officers or their representatives in health, education and community development sectors participated from 16 districts( where NCHD was working) and identified capacity requirements.

Development of EPI Logistics and Vaccine Management System
The Technical Assistance Management Agency (TAMA) in consultation with National EPI program agreed upon an in-depth analysis of the vaccine logistic system to determine key constraints to vaccine availability. For this purpose a team of consultants (national-Contech & international-LATH) was engaged in coordination with Contech and TAMA. This study has been undertaken for designing and implementing solutions to vaccine management problems.

Pakistan Maternal and Neonatal Health Project (PAIMAN)
PAIMAN was a five year project funded by USAID to reduce maternal, newborn, and child mortality in Pakistan. Contech was responsible for implementing strategies to increase awareness and promote positive maternal and neonatal health behaviors. Contech worked closely with government to integrate MNH services within devolved environment, create supportive policy environment, develop district specific intervention models, increase accountability to the community, develop management capacity, use HMIS for MNH decision making, improve logistics systems, and develop incentive packages for female staff. Contech supported the government in developing regulatory frameworks for private sector, developing sustainable public private partnerships, creating intersectoral linkages, and providing hands-on support to DHMTs.

Decision Space Analysis (DSA) and Capacity Assessment of Districts (Contech & Harvard)-Baseline and Endline
Contech International, PAIMAN partners and Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) developed benchmarks for the current choices district health authorities have over financial & human resources, services organization, governance and local participation. This study consisted of a Baseline Survey and Follow-on Survey of "decision space and capacity" in both pilot and control districts.

Designing Pay For Performance Model
Through AusAid, Center for Global Development supported Pay4Performance Initiative in developing countries. In Pakistan, responsibility for designing such an initiative had been entrusted to Contech International in collaboration with officials of UNICEF Pakistan. The study aimed at developing consensus and gathering support for setting up performance-based-incentives initiatives.

Developing Mechanism for bonuses and incentives for Program Managers and Staff of Federal, Provincial and District MNCH cells
NMNCHP envisaged financial incentives and bonuses for program managers and staff working at different levels. Contech International was given the responsibility to define the mechanism and criterion for giving out these incentives. In-depth interviews were conducted with all provincial MNCH managers and consultations were held with key officials. A consensus was built in relation to identification and prioritization of KPIs, their proposed source of information, proposed scoring mechanism and strategy of how to disburse the incentive amount and the prospective beneficiaries.

Contech has conceptualized and developed software “HealthPlan®” for facilitating the districts in accomplishing the health planning task smoothly. EPI Plan (EPI CES) Toolkit
Contech developed a Customized Software responsive to the needs of EPI Program. It assures data quality and is user friendly. The EPI Plan had two modules EPI Plan data entry module and report generation module. The software has been used successfully in EPI Coverage Evaluation Surveys conducted by Contech in Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, NWFP and FATA.

FinSoft®-A Budgeting and Financial Management Toolkit
Contech has developed Finsoft®, a budgeting and financial management software to assist districts managers in preparing their annual budget. It is based on Budget Rules 2003 and has features such as multi-year data management and analysis, simplified data entry, pre-fed New Accounting Model (NAM) object codes, budget analysis and tracking of monthly actual expenditure, preparation of budget management reports, data exportability into different applications, hierarchical reporting e.g. reports for DDOs, Facility wise, Consolidated.

Technology for Identifying Willingness to Access Healthcare
Contech has completed a study in collaboration with GSU to identify households with a greater willingness to access modern medical practices for prenatal and postnatal care. Contech has provided TA and hands on support for ANC and PNC services through Mobile Health Unit, and incentivized approach was used for study participants. This research project provides an opportunity to understand the role of time preferences, risk attitudes and perceptions of risk as determinants of the willingness to access healthcare systems for early adopters.

Family Health Insurance
Contech implemented a service delivery project of family health insurance voucher scheme with the financial support of BRAC Pakistan. Contech was the implementing partner of BRAC and carrying out interventions of proven efficacy to elevate the health status of target community, addressing inequalities in access and providing quality health care services to pro poor communities. It was implemented within three Union councils of district Lasbela, Baluchistan where 1,500 families will be registered for health insurance.

Prevention & Control of HIV/AIDS STIs among Female Sex Workers in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala & Sialkot Cities
Contech International worked with Punjab AIDS Control Program to provide multiple services to high risk groups in Lahore and Faisalabad. The project aimed at recording base-line information of the targeted population, knowledge about transmission and prevention of sexually transmitted infections, referral to VCT centers, provision of free condoms, promoting safe sexual practices, and establishing a chain of peer educators.

Development of Communication and Advocacy Material
Contech has developed a range of communication and advocacy materials aimed at raising awareness of various health issues and initiatives among communities and stakeholders. These materials include practical guides for traditional birth attendants, social marketing campaigns promoting clean delivery practices, advocacy leaflets for HIV/AIDS service delivery, and policy briefs on child health programs and district health system strengthening. Additionally, Contech has developed software tools for budgeting and health planning, as well as project advocacy leaflets presenting the findings of various initiatives. The materials aim to bring about positive change in policy and practice and improve health outcomes for communities in need.

Advocacy on Population and National Advancement (APNA) Pakistan
APNA Pakistan was a campaign initiated by UNFPA in 2012, implemented by Contech Int’l and supported by a consortium comprising CCP-Pakistan, CRS and ADÉTUDE (Pvt.) Ltd. The campaign aimed to raise awareness among policy makers, service providers, and families about the benefits of birth spacing for national and individual health and prosperity. The campaign successfully increased political commitment and community awareness, leading to better access and utilization of health services. The expected outcomes were a reduction in child mortality rate, improvement in maternal health, and overall family wellbeing, contributing to high economic growth and development through demographic dividend.

Dissemination of Health Facility Assessment Findings
Contech was commissioned by TRF to conduct a Health Facility Assessment (HFA) in 2010 across all provinces and special areas of Pakistan. The purpose of the assessment was to identify gaps in the availability and quality of maternal, newborn, and child health services provided in public sector health facilities and provide recommendations for improvement. Contech successfully disseminated the findings of the HFA to district and provincial managers through provincial-level workshops to facilitate their use in planning and budgeting for districts, as well as rationalize requests for resources from the provinces.

Prevention & Control of HIV/AIDS STIs among Female Sex Workers in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala & Sialkot Cities
Contech International collaborated with Punjab AIDS Control Program to provide services to high-risk groups in Lahore and Faisalabad for the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS and STIs. They then extended their services to Rawalpindi, Sialkot, and Gujranwala in order to prevent transmission of HIV and decrease risk among female sex workers (FSWs). The project aimed to record baseline information, provide awareness and advocacy, refer individuals to VCT centers, provide free condoms, promote safe sexual practices, and establish a chain of peer educators for sustainability of the project.

Delivery of Primary Health Care and Preventive Services for Men Having Sex with Men (MSM) including Hijaras within the Municipal Limits of Metropolitan City of Lahore
Contech International, in collaboration with National Health Education Research & Resource Institute and Savoir-Faire NGOs, provided primary health care services, advocacy, and behavior change communication strategies for the prevention of HIV/AIDS among MSM in Lahore. They established centers for counseling, trained MSM, developed advocacy and communication materials, conducted group discussions and meetings with health care providers, distributed condoms and lubricants, provided free HIV testing and treatment for STIs patients. They registered 4,500 MSM and advocated for preventive services for HIV/AIDS. Serious cases were referred to hospitals for treatment. The project lasted for 5 years.

Delivery of Primary Health Care and Preventive Services for Female Sex Workers (FSW) within the Jurisdiction of Metropolitan City of Lahore
Contech International was assigned a 5-year project by the Punjab AIDS Control Program/World Bank for providing primary health care services and behavior change communication strategies to prevent HIV/AIDS among the vulnerable community of female sex workers (FSWs) in Lahore. The project was led by a consortium of National Health Education Research & Resource Institute (NGO) and Savoir-Faire (NGO). Contech registered 9,256 FSWs and provided services such as counseling, training, advocacy and distribution of condoms and lubricants to prevent the transmission of HIV infection. They also raised awareness, provided free HIV testing and medicine for STIs, and referred serious cases to hospitals.

Social marketing of Clean Delivery Kits (CDKs)
A CDK social marketing pilot project was launched in Kot Abdul Maalik, funded by Save the Children US, to promote SafeKit® (a clean delivery kit) through a mass awareness campaign for demand-driven promotion. Advocacy and awareness raising campaign was launched through outreach workers and community health workers. The project was well appreciated by the community and healthcare providers, especially Dias/TBAs, resulting in positive changes in their practices and norms towards safe motherhood.

Communication & Advocacy of Life Cycle initiatives
Contech International provided technical assistance and implementation services for various initiatives of Zahanat Foundation's life cycle approach program in Ramthaman and Kaghuzi. The initiatives included emergency ambulance service, toy program, health clinics, education programs, and more. Contech also developed communication and advocacy materials and organized awareness-raising campaigns and counseling sessions to promote the program's benefits. These efforts resulted in positive changes in the community's practices towards health, hygiene, education, and mother and child health.

School Health and Screening Program
Under the Public Private Partnership Initiative, four schools in UC Matta were selected to provide healthcare services to more than 500 students, ages 5 to 13, from low-income families. Medical doctors provided health services, while school teachers were trained for First Aid and monthly hygiene evaluations. Health education sessions, health clubs, and health education fairs were conducted in each school to promote healthy lifestyles. Handouts, audio/visual testimonials, and Project Activity Leaflet were disseminated during sessions to deliver prevention, early detection, and correction of health problems among students and reduce treatment costs.

Training of Traditional Birth Attendants on Rahnuma Kitabcha
Contech International in collaboration with Zahanat Foundation introduced the advocacy and capacity building initiative of Traditional Birth Attendants as TBAs are a reality and improving their skills can considerably affect maternal and infant morbidity/mortality. Hands on trainings were provided to TBAs as a part of the research program, through especially designed training material. TBA training was focused on essentials of safe motherhood, newborn care, recognition of danger signs as well as ensuring delivery and post-delivery care of women by a birth attendant. Rahnuma Kitabcha, a set of training booklets in two parts was developed by Contech team. Part 1 contains detailed description in simple Urdu language while part 2 consists of pictorial lessons. The booklets were complemented by poster size flip charts for class room training sessions. Complete set of Rehnuma Kitabcha was used for training and advocacy of TBAs on safe motherhood and delivery practices. A total of 1500 TBAs were trained within district Kasur and successfully improved their practices towards safe motherhood, newborn care and clean delivery practices.

Mobile Health Unit for Emergency Response- An advocacy and service delivery initiative
Contech International utilized the Sehat Sahulat Clinic-Basic+ (SSC-B+) as an Emergency Response Unit during the 2011 floods in Punjab, Pakistan. The SSC-B+ was moved to the worst flood-hit district of Muzaffargarh, where it provided free and quality healthcare to over 1000 patients for two months. In addition to healthcare services, communication and advocacy strategies were adopted to promote healthy and hygienic practices among flood affectees. This experience demonstrated the successful use of Mobile Health Units (MHUs) for emergency response in areas with low or no access to basic primary healthcare facilities, bringing positive change in healthy practices.

ROSHNI-Service Delivery Project for FSWs in Lahore West
Contech International completed a project funded by Punjab AIDS Control Program to provide a package of services for primary health care, management of sexually transmitted infections, education in sexual health, and behavior change communication for female sex workers (FSWs) in Lahore. Two Drop in Special Health Centres were established, and activities included identifying and registering 95,000 FSWs, conducting FGDs, providing primary health care services, management of STIs, provision of free medicine, promotion and distribution of condoms, using IPC for counseling and empowering FSWs, VCCT services, training of local health care providers, developing MIS system and BCC material, and promoting empowerment activities among FSWs. BCC materials such as posters, VCT/help line cards, play cards with HIV information, boxes of condoms with printed messages, visual aid, and pictorial booklet were developed for advocacy and communication.

Reproductive Health Initiative in Adolescents (RHIA)
PLAN International and Contech collaborated for the Reproductive Health Initiative in Adolescents (RHIA) to promote awareness of reproductive health issues and advocate for positive change in health policy in Pakistan. They organized forums, seminars, discussions, and interviews with adolescents, youth, parents, teachers, and public health professionals to exchange ideas and develop strategies for youth policy recommendations. Communication strategies were developed and implemented with the involvement of media partners and professionals at all levels.

Round Table Session on Dengue Prevention: Setting Strategies in Punjab
Contech Int'l collaborated with Zahanat Foundation to organize an 'Anti-Dengue Drive' in Lahore to collect data on the prevalence of the Dengue epidemic. Mobile health units were used to provide health services to patients in selected areas, along with advocacy and awareness campaigns. A survey was conducted to assess knowledge, attitude, practices, and observations related to Dengue. The findings of the survey were discussed in a round table session with health professionals and program managers from public and private sectors to set a strategic direction for future Dengue control and prevention in Punjab.

Training in Project Cycle Management of Community Citizen Boards
The project aimed to build the capacity of Community Citizen Boards (CCB) in developing projects that meet their local needs. The district government provided 80% of the funding while the CCB contributed the remaining 20%. The project covered various areas such as sanitation, agriculture, health, education, vocational training institutes, micro-credit, and civil works. ConTech developed guidelines and training aids and provided training to 107 CCBs in three towns of District Lahore. They assisted in preparing 114 project proposals and cost estimates, and submitting them to the district. ConTech also provided assistance in following up on those projects.

Catalyst Optimal Birth Spacing Initiative (OBSI) Trainings
The goal of the project was to implement the Optimal Birth Spacing Interval's counseling training program in 10 districts of Pakistan. ConTech-JBL Alliance was assigned the training project, which involved training Master Trainers, Facility Trainers, LHWs, Family Planning Workers, and CBOs male Mobilizers. The training material was prepared based on their training assessment, including presentations, case studies, and audiovisual testimonials. The project aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of community workers in OBSI counseling to promote healthy birth spacing practices. The Pakistan Initiative for Mothers and Newborns (PAIMAN) was a five year project funded by USAID. Contech was partner organization in the consortium led by John Snow Inc. (JSI). The goal of the project was to reduce maternal, newborn, and child mortality in Pakistan through viable and demonstrable initiatives in 10 districts. SO-4 (Strategic Objective-4) was implemented to increase capacity of MNH managers and care providers through competency-based training based on training need assessment and hands-on training (with involvement of both public and private health facilities). Training packages were developed and 700 district managers and other staff was trained on management areas. Contech strengthened the capacity of district health managers on various initiatives through advocacy and consultative meetings/workshops and trainings. Contech has achieved positive change in policies and practices through continuous consultation, advocacy and facilitation. They have established and operationalized District Health Management Teams, provided legal cover to 07 DHMTs, conducted provincial level Sensitization workshops, provided technical assistance to districts' core planning group, trained 1394 staff on HMIS, provided translation of DHIS manual in urdu, trained 4,871 staff on DHIS data collection tools and methods, 88 computer personnel on use of DHIS software and 227 managers (provincial and district level) on DHIS use of information, developed a district level DHIS newsletter, distributed shields based upon selection criteria, and prepared policy briefs on DHMT, DHIS and Decision Space Analysis to share with policy level officials and decision makers.

Implementation of TB DOTS through Public Private Mix
Contech was responsible for implementing the PPM DOTS project in Lahore, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi, funded by USAID and in partnership with the National TB Control Program and WHO. The project aimed to provide universal access to quality DOTS for the community, increase detection and cure rates of TB, and create a sustainable PPM model to be scaled up. Contech developed training aids to build the capacity of private health providers and paramedics on NTP protocols and guidelines, with a focus on record keeping, identifying and following up on TB patients.

School Health and Screening Program
In the Public Private Partnership Initiative and School Health and Screening Program, four schools in UC Matta were selected to provide healthcare services and raise awareness on health and hygiene for more than 500 students from low socioeconomic families. School teachers were involved in monthly hygiene evaluations and trained in providing First Aid to students. Monthly health education sessions, health clubs, and fairs were conducted to promote healthy lifestyles among students, with handouts and audio/visual materials disseminated during sessions. The program aimed to prevent, detect, and correct health problems among students with reduced treatment costs.

Technical Assistance Management Agency (TAMA)
Contech was a major national partner of a consortium consisting of Options Consultancy Services, Abt Associates, and Liverpool Associates in Tropical Health (LATH), which was hired by DFID and USAID to provide technical assistance in support of a National Health Facility (NHF) with the Government of Pakistan (GoP). The Technical Assistance Management Agency (TAMA) was formed for this purpose, and Contech provided technical assistance for various projects under TAMA, including VLMIS study, decentralization study, TA for advocacy and communication, evaluation and shortlisting of candidates for NHPU, development of quality control guidelines and monitoring program for microscopic diagnosis, and more. TAMA was also involved in strengthening the district health system through supervision of LHWS, reporting of T.B drugs stock-out, and individual study assignments in various provinces of Pakistan. Contech provided technical assistance for several projects in Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, and NWFP/KP, such as developing PC-1 form for Malaria, providing technical assistance for logistic management LHW Program, revision of GAVI EPI PC-1, and more. Additionally, Contech provided technical assistance for social mobilization for routine EPI and revision of GAVI EPI PC-1 in NWFP/KP.

Punjab Devolved Social Services Program (PDSSP)
Contech managed technical assistance (TA) for the Punjab Devolved Social Services Programme, following the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) guidelines for procurement of TA. The consultants carried out several studies, including developing minimum service delivery standards, standardized medical protocols, and standard operating procedures; restructuring the Punjab Health Foundation; conducting a medico-legal study; developing job descriptions and evaluation criteria for medical and paramedical staff; developing an urban catchment hospital model; restructuring the paramedic service cadre in Punjab; developing an ECCD nutritional model for Punjab; devising a system for referral of medical cases at the devolved health care level; and strengthening capacity for health sector planning at the district government level. Additionally, Contech provided technical assistance for the Punjab Millennium Development Goals and Access to Justice Program as a national financial specialist.

Health Research Station at Village Ram Thaman
Contech is providing continuous technical assistance to Zahanat foundation in implementing various health initiatives in the health research station at Village Ram Thaman, UC Matta, district Kasur. Health research station is a community-oriented model that revolves around training, teaching, research, and post-graduate student experience. The life cycle approach to community health in a rural area is a new initiative of Contech that includes several programs, such as Community Emergency Ambulance Service (CEAS), Toys for Development (TFD) Program, Tawana Ghar Program, Madrassa Reform Program, Destitute Support program, Mother and Neonates Child health (MNCH), Sehat Sahulat Clinic-Basic+, Mobile Health Unit (Sehat Sahulat Clinic Basic+), School Health & Screening Program, and Zahanat Training Institute (ZTI). Each program has its unique objective, but they all focus on improving the health status of the local community by providing them access to quality health services, education, and skills development opportunities.

Strengthening Vaccination centres through IHSS-SD
The IHSS-SD Activity plans to establish additional COVID Vaccination Centers (CVCs) in remote districts of KP and Sindh provinces, to complement the government's efforts to increase the number of static vaccine sites in 25 districts. In each district, one district headquarter hospital, one tehsil hospital, and one rural health center will be selected for strengthening/establishing a vaccination center. The project aims to increase COVID-19 vaccination coverage through the establishment of static vaccination centers, outreach vaccination, and demand creation. JSI will be the lead partner in the implementation of outreach and demand creation components. The support will include training of health facility vaccinator and Data Entry Operator, refurbishment of selected 75 sites, display and distribution of COVID-19 SOPs and vaccine information, and coordination with JSI, local NGOs/CBOs, and DHO offices.

Baseline study for channeling quality FP services in uncovered rural areas at district Sheikhupura and Nankana
The baseline study aims to collect information on family planning related indicators to achieve the PPIF strategic objectives, including increasing accessibility of family planning services, strengthening male engagement, promoting youth-centered information and services, social and behavior change communication, and quality assurance. The study will provide practical tools and approaches for project monitoring and learning and serve as a benchmark for measuring progress. The study is expected to benefit the communities, especially married couples.

Baseline Study for Mera Intakhab: Meri Khushali Project at District Sheikhupura
The project "Mera Intakhab, Meri Khushali" in district Sheikhupura aims to improve family planning knowledge, attitudes, and practices through a Social and Behavior Change Communication Intervention. A baseline study is conducted to collect information on family planning indicators related to increasing accessibility of family planning services, strengthening male engagement, promoting youth-centered information and services, social and behaviour change communication, and quality assurance. The baseline data will help program staff to develop relevant tools and approaches for project monitoring and learning.

Public Health Work With Public Health England On International Health Regulations And Integrated Disease Surveillance And Response In Pakistan
Contech International has been supporting Public Health England on IHR compliance and IDSR in Pakistan since 2015, initially for Punjab and federal level, but later extended to Federal, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Sindh provinces. The key activities at federal level include the finalization of workplan for implementation of Phase, selection of DHIS2 as the surveillance tool for IDSR, preparation of guidelines and Case Definitions for Infection Disease Surveillance, and collection of information from provinces for setting up IDSR hubs. Contech worked with ODI in 2015 to conduct Political and Institutional Economy Analysis (PIEA). This was a cross-sectional study that involved desk review and qualitative research. Data was obtained from academic databases, published academic and grey literature, and 45 key informants were interviewed. The results of the PIEA were intended to inform the implementation of technical strategies for improved IDSR and IHR compliance and the Health Security Roadmap.

Midterm Evaluation of Pneumonia and Diarrhoea Project
Contech was awarded a midterm evaluation of UNICEF's Pneumonia and Diarrhoea Project to independently evaluate its achievements and weaknesses. This evaluation aimed to investigate components of the project that were performing optimally and whether it should be expanded and replicated in other geographical areas. It also documented progress made so far and lessons learned to be used in improving the project in accordance with the National Health Vision.

Implementation of post nationwide measles rubella campaign coverage survey in Pakistan
The survey was aimed to a) estimate Measles Rubella coverage achieved through campaign among children between 9 months to less than 15 years at the time of the campaign in each division, province and nationally; and b) estimate OPV coverage among children <5 years (0-4 years) achieved during the campaign. Its geographical coverage included 36 provincial strata in all provinces and regions of Pakistan, including Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and Islamabad (ICT).

Reach Every District (RED)/Reach Every Community (REC) Strategy Evaluation Pakistan (2014-18)
UNICEF commissioned an independent evaluation and awarded Contech a national level evaluation to assess the effectiveness of the RED/REC strategy. The evaluation documented the process, strengths, weaknesses and challenges observed out of the implementation of the strategy and focused on identifying key aspiration to initiate RED/REC approach in selected low performing districts. The evidence from the evaluation was used to inform Federal and provincial Government decisions on investing in the institutionalisation of all five RED/REC approaches with due prioritization and budgetary allocations, and to define UNICEF's position and programming for the scale up of the strategy across country.

He was technical lead in the process of development of three years rolling plans for all the districts of Sindh, funded by USAID and executed through JSI & Contech consortium. Mr. Abdul Hamid is a senior Statistician and Analyst. He started his carrier as Statistical Assistant in World Bank Second Family Health Project Punjab in 1993. In 1996, he joined Asian Development Bank Health Care Development Project Punjab as a Computer Assistant, where he worked for three years. He also served as Support IT in 1999, in Health Sector Reform Unit Punjab, which was funded by DFID UK. He joined Contech in April 2002 and has been working as Senior Bio-statistician and Analyst for many years. His in-depth experience and analytical skills provided him ample opportunities to manage various public health assignments single-handedly as Statistician/Bio-Statistician, due to his enrich experience and methodical approach. Asiya Nawaz

Asiya Nawaz is an experienced professional having rich background of planning and managing field work, monitoring and quality assurance of field teams, as well as facilitation and program management in different international NGOs. Ms. Nawaz is a double Master's from the University of Baluchistan, Quetta, including a Master's in Sociology and Urdu. She has also acquired several trainings in the field of public health. She has gone through several trainings on research proposal development and has also successfully accomplished Small Scale Research Grant for Reproductive Health by the Bill and Melinda Gates Institute at Johns Hopkins University. She has led the Business Development Section within Contech and worked as Business Development Manager, while currently, she is heading the Technical & Administrative Support Unit (TANSU) within the organization as Manager TANSU. Her responsibilities include the development of research proposals and concept writing for funding, report writing, and management of consultants and databases. She is responsible for the orientation and overall coordination of consultants and clients. She is also responsible to maintain a continuous liaison with clients/funding agencies/donors to address their queries. She represents Contech at various forums, seminars, and meetings. Also worked as Senior Public Health Expert for USAID’s Integrated Health System Strengthening & Service Delivery (IHSS-SD) project. She has also worked as Public Health Consultant for ‘Evaluation of RED/REC Strategy Pakistan’ funded by UNICEF.

Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan is a medical doctor and
public health professional with a distinguished career dedicated to
strengthening health security and emergency response systems in Pakistan and the
wider EMRO region. Currently
serving as the Deputy Country Lead for the UK Health Security Agency's (UKHSA)
International Health Regulation Strengthening Project (IHR-SP) in Pakistan, Dr.
Khan is a pivotal figure in the nation's public health infrastructure. His most
significant contribution is as the lead architect of the Pakistan
Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) system, where he designed
its core structure, developed operational tools and established the
implementation model that now guides epidemic detection and response, nationwide. Under
UKHSA IHR-SP, he further contributes to national
laboratory network strengthening, workforce development,
surveillance guidelines, digitalization of surveillance systems and the preparation of multisectoral
preparedness frameworks.
