Delivery of Primary Health Care and Preventive Services for Female Sex Workers (FSW) within the Jurisdiction of Metropolitan City of Lahore

Contech International was assigned a 5-year project by the Punjab AIDS Control Program/World Bank for providing primary health care services and behavior change communication strategies to prevent HIV/AIDS among the vulnerable community of female sex workers (FSWs) in Lahore. The project was led by a consortium of National Health Education Research & Resource Institute (NGO) and Savoir-Faire (NGO). Contech registered 9,256 FSWs and provided services such as counseling, training, advocacy and distribution of condoms and lubricants to prevent the transmission of HIV infection. They also raised awareness, provided free HIV testing and medicine for STIs, and referred serious cases to hospitals.
