Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan is a medical doctor and
public health professional with a distinguished career dedicated to
strengthening health security and emergency response systems in Pakistan and the
wider EMRO region. Currently
serving as the Deputy Country Lead for the UK Health Security Agency's (UKHSA)
International Health Regulation Strengthening Project (IHR-SP) in Pakistan, Dr.
Khan is a pivotal figure in the nation's public health infrastructure. His most
significant contribution is as the lead architect of the Pakistan
Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) system, where he designed
its core structure, developed operational tools and established the
implementation model that now guides epidemic detection and response, nationwide. Under
UKHSA IHR-SP, he further contributes to national
laboratory network strengthening, workforce development,
surveillance guidelines, digitalization of surveillance systems and the preparation of multisectoral
preparedness frameworks.
